About Us -
My husband and I are very excited about becoming the new owners of Paws Dream. Derek and I have both always loved animals,
growing up with them from young ages. My love for animals, especially dogs, kept growing. I have always wanted to help
animals in need as much as possible. If I could help them all, I would in a heartbeat, but I know that I cannot. To do
my best in aiding the neglected animals, I have volunteered at animal shelters, specifically the Animal Rescue League of
Southern Rhode Island. I have been volunteering at the shelter since about 2004 working with animals on training to make
them better candidates for adoption, on socialization skills, and just plain loving. The animals love it when they have
a pal just sit with them and love and pamper them. This is how my husband and I got our dog, a 3-year-old chocolate
Labrador, Harley. He had these sad eyes that sucked us right in, he is now a spoiled, loved part of our family. Harley
is looking forward to meeting many new friends here at Paws Dream.
To further my love of animals I have taken Animal Veterinary Science courses at the University of Rhode Island, where I
have a major in art studio and a minor in psychology. I have also received my certificate for dog training from the
Animal Behavior College. The college program focuses on training, but it goes in depth about breed types, anatomy,
diseases, and vaccines, Etc… I also am certified in pet first aid from the American Red Cross. I am always trying to
expand my knowledge on animals by books, the Internet, and speaking with different people in the pet industry.
Derek has always dreamed of being in a profession that helps people. As a young boy he always wanted to join the
Coast Guard. In 2003 Derek made his dream a reality. Coming out of boot camp Derek was stationed on a 110-foot
cutter based out of Sandy Hook, New Jersey. After 2 years on the cutter Derek has been relocated to Station Provincetown
on Cape Cod. We have always wanted to come back home to be closer to our family and friends. We are living in Wellfleet
where we plan to begin our family.
We have always had our hearts in the dog industry because we know it will be very rewarding. We have always thought about
opening a doggie daycare, and now that we are in our permanent home, we plan on doing so. We have put deep thought into
opening a doggie daycare. We have done numerous amounts of research on other doggie daycares near and far from the Cape.
In the recent past we have tried purchasing other locations on the cape to make our dream a reality. Unfortunately town
and state rules and regulations made it impossible to open our dog business at those certain locations. With our finding
of Paws Dream, we will finally make our dream our reality.
We feel that Paws Dream is a very well developed business and it will continue growing. My husband and I do not plan on
changing anything at first with the business. We want it to continue running as smoothly as possible while we are still
learning all aspects of the business. All of the staff is going to remain on board with us. We have met with them all
and they know that they are very important to the business.
In the future, we would like to expand the business with more and different types of training, having doggie Olympic
contests with our clients, and having talent nights for our K-9 friends. As of now, Paws Dream has a basic obedience
program, with Joe the Dog Man, but we hope to add a puppy kindergarten and maybe an agility training section. We plan
on having a doggie Olympic contest about every four months where dogs will compete in different canine contests competing
for a 'Top Dog of the Quarter Award'. Of course we will keep in place the "Dog of the Month." An agility night will consist
of fun exercises for the dogs and mental stimulation. We were also thinking about adding a Self Service Dog Wash to
compliment our Full Service Grooming already in place. We will keep you all updated!
We look forward to becoming the new owners of Paws Dream. We cannot wait to meet all of you and your canine kids.
We look forward to taking care of your canine kids as if they were our own.
If you have any questions about Derek or me, feel free to ask.
Sincerely,
Lindsey & Derek Malouin
